Whether It’s a short term stay or a long vacation, conducting some of these activities might end you up in a devastating travel experience. With that in mind, there are 5 of such activities that you must stay away from during your visit in Thailand.

1. Avoid Tuk tuks

If you think Tuk Tuk is the best transport media for moving one place to another in Thailand city, then you are wrong. Hiring a Tuk Tuk is infact the worst idea and can be a trap to loot extra bucks from you.
You might be thinking that, what could be a better option than an open sided, four stroke engines
vehicles which gives you the city view during travelling at the most convenient price. You have various other transport media, like metros, subways, bus, ubers etc. Tuk tuk, o the other hand will rip you pocket off if hired. They are infamous for carrying scams on tourists and often harass travelers.

2. Never try to touch Monks

A disciplinary procedure during your stay is to avoid shaking hands or even touching any
Monks in Thai Land. It is against their social norms as they are considered as high regards and sacred in the Thai society. Especially if you are a woman tourist, you are not allowed to give or receive anything to or from monks directly. Rather if necessary, you can leave that object on floor or table for them to receive.

3. Respect Thai royal family

Thailand consist of a monarchy ruling system. It is a usual custom to show full respect to the royal family in Thailand. Therefore, any object such as emblem or currencies that carry king or queen’s face must not be stepped over. If not obeys, it is considered disrespectful in Thailand.

4. Stay away from red light district

You should avoid travelling to Thailand’s red-light districts if possible.
Especially in Pat pong. This area is infamous for fooling tourists with counterfeit
Products and services, irrational price tags for normal foods and beverages in cafes, pocket ripping adult services, tourist extortions and so on.

5. Don’t Whistle at night

Whistling at night in Thailand is considered taboo. Thai peoples are bit superstitious regarding
certain believes and whistling at night is one of it. According to them doing such activity summons evil
spirits and demons.

There are few other activities which as a travel you should try to avoid in Thailand, such as using
fork for picking up food to eat, or using feet for some other social activities other than walking,
disrespecting monasteries and Buddha, loitering around with Durian fruit in public transport. It must be
kept in mind that every country has their own set of rules and social norms. When we are travelling in a country, we should respect and obey those norms whenever and wherever possible.
